ACHIEVERS ADVANTAGE

FROM DRIFTING TO DRIVING!

What I know for sure.

I was browsing through some books a couple of years ago and came across a quote from Mark Twain.

“The two most important days in your life are the day you were born and the day you find out why”

Those words were so profound to me that I couldn’t stop thinking about them. I knew the day I was born, but I honestly didn’t know the reason why. Don’t get me wrong. I have had a successful adult life doing meaningful work, but until I read those words, I had been put the “why” out of my mind. I realized, “why”, that extraordinary element had been eluding me for years. Without knowing why, I began to feel I had been simply drifting. I was doing work that made me happy, but I couldn’t honestly say I was doing fulfilling work. Work that would keep me excited from the time I woke up, until the time I closed my eyes for the night. It was troubling. As a consultant I would tell CEO’s that most of them knew what they were doing and how they do it, but they couldn’t explain why. WHY is a difficult word. Author Simon Sinek wrote a whole book that talked about Starting with Why. Without the “why”, I progressed but I never felt that I excelled. Then, for a reason I can’t explain, the light bulb went off. That extraordinary element; my purpose in life, came to me like a tsunami. My new found purpose is overwhelming. I can’t stop thinking about my next moves.

Your purpose should give you that same kind of feeling! Your purpose should move you from drifting to driving. When you find out your purpose, you will know. Your mindset will change, your energy levels will increase and your determination will get stronger. You will gain Foresight, share Insight, and experience wisdom through Hindsight. Find your purpose and then go do what you were put on this big blue marble to do!
